With the exception of one small section of Gympie – Kin Kin Rd, all unsealed roads in our area are managed by Noosa Council rather than State Government. The Minister for Local Government’s Office have advised the following in relation to local governments and unsealed roads:

The Local Government Act 2009 (the Act) provides the framework for how local councils manage roads within the local government area. Under the Act, local governments are responsible for the construction, maintenance, and improvement of all roads within the local government area (excluding Queensland Government controlled roads or public thoroughfare easements). A Council’s Capital Works Program (CWP) allocates funding for resealing projects.

Local governments have full autonomy to determine their Capital Works Programs, including resealing roads within their local government areas. The council’s road reseal program and the roads identified as requiring resealing or sealing, is solely at the discretion of the council.

For further information regarding sealing of local roads, please email Noosa Council via mail@noosa.qld.gov.au and/or contact your elected Councillors with their contact information available at https://www.noosa.qld.gov.au/about-council/councillors-meetings/mayor-and-councillors
