The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) have advised the following in relation to Kin Kin Rd:

Vehicle Activated Signs

As part of co-ordinated management with Queensland Police Service, our office and key stakeholders of Kin Kin Road, TMR have installed 6 temporary Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) to remind motorists to slow down and drive to the speed limit and road conditions. Traffic counters were installed at the locations in early November 2022 with five of the temporary VAS installed on Friday 18 and Monday 21 November 2022 and the sixth location on Kin Kin Road, installed on Thursday 24 November 2022. TMR selected the locations after consideration of suggestions from the Kin Kin Roundtable which included stakeholders, Noosa Council and local Police.

Compliance

Another joint compliance initiative between TMR and the Queensland Police Service (QPS) has been requested. This was expected to take place in October 2022, however, was delayed due to the temporary 10 tonne mass limit placed on Kin Kin Road in late October 2022. TMR’s Compliance team is liaising with QPS about this matter. Joint compliance is now not expected to be undertaken until the new year. TMR will provide further information at that time.

We are also currently awaiting the information from the peer reviewed full route assessment, which we’ve been advised should be by the end of the year.

Also a reminder that you can find information on claiming for damage to your vehicle at https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/conditions/report/claim  Please read the details on what you can claim and what to include in a claim carefully.
