The following information, in indented italics, has been received from the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) in response to complaints from residents regarding the standard of road resealing works occurring on state roads in the Noosa Hinterland, including Louis Bazzo Drive and Kin Kin Rd in.

TMR advises that bitumen resealing in these areas is a ‘holding treatment’ to reduce the current maintenance needs with the understanding that permanent works may be required.

We are currently awaiting outcomes from the full route assessment undertaken in 2022. These outcomes will give TMR the blueprint necessary to plan the longer lasting works needed in various areas instead of continued maintenance of ‘patching’ and ‘holding treatments’, however are delayed due to being peer reviewed by an independent expert.

The pedestrian walkway has been closed on Kin Kin No 3 bridge due to substantial flooding damage and will remain closed until a solution is put into place and the walkway is safe to reopen. This bridge is also due for maintenance servicing in the coming months.
