This unsealed section, from Como to Wolvi, is managed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), Southern Queensland Region, who have advised the following;
TMR priorities upgrades across the state-controlled road network so funding goes to works identified as being the highest priority. Choosing priority projects where industry and community expectations often exceed available funding is an ongoing challenge. When prioritising and deciding where funding is spent, criteria such as crash history, traffic volumes, type of traffic, and the condition of the road are all considered.
With consideration of the above, TMR has no plans or funding for sealing works on Gympie – Kin Kin Road, from Como to Wolvi. However, I can advise grading works to improve the condition of the gravel road were completed in November 2022 and a recent inspection identified that the road is in a satisfactory condition at this time.
This is the only unsealed road managed by State Government in the Noosa Electorate, with only a small portion of this road in Noosa and most actually within the Gympie Electorate.
