The community consultation period through the Queensland Law Reform Commission (QLRC) has now closed. Due to time constraints the QLRC will deliver an interim report in February, with their final recommendations to come in May. We realise how disappointing this is for so many, however as we heard recently in Parliament, the QLRC have been clear on their reasons for the delay and it is vitally important that they have the time needed for this legislation to be drafted correctly. It is expected that the legislation will be introduced into Parliament in September 2021.
