The electorate office has received the following update and information from Seqwater;
The project construction has been re-scheduled and the lowering of the lake will begin in March 2020, ahead of construction.
The best time of year to lower the lake’s water level is March to avoid the wet season, as well as aquatic fauna breeding seasons in and downstream of the lake. The timing change means Lake Macdonald will remain open to recreation throughout 2019. Key stakeholders and the general community will be informed by Seqwater about the change and what this means.
Regardless of the change, project approvals will be progressing next year as planned and Seqwater expect public notification of the Impact Assessment Report to be conducted between late-January and mid-February next year.
