The following update (in italics) has been provided by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) regarding the construction of the Six Mile Creek Bridge replacement project:

Work on the bridge is progressing well with a major component of the bridge construction, the placement of bridge girders, now complete. TMR would like to thank the community for their patience during the girder installation work.

Upcoming works:

  • installation of bridge cross girders and steel bridge traffic barriers
  • installation of pavement layers
  • pouring of concrete bridge deck
  • establishment of sidetrack for upcoming traffic switch to allow culvert works on eastern road verge
  • continuation of drainage works
  • road alignment on sections of Kin Kin Road on approach to the bridge
  • continuation of construction for dedicated turn lanes into Bellbird Flat Road.

Expected impacts:

  • traffic controllers, automated traffic signals, reduced speed limits, road signage and variable message signs remain in place to advise of the changed traffic conditions andto ensure motorist and roadworker safety
  • priority access through the work site will be given to emergency vehicles
  • we expect higher truck movements as these works continue. TMR will strive tobalance impacts to the community and motorists using the road network during these busier times. TMR is also engaging with key stakeholders who utilise Kin Kin Road to coordinate the delivery of construction materials
  • majority of works will be undertaken during the day from Monday to Saturday between 7am and 5pm.

Every effort will be made to keep disruptions and noise to a minimum while the works are underway. TMR understands roadworks can be frustrating for nearby businesses, residents and road users and acknowledges the cooperation and patience of stakeholders during these activities. TMR will continue to provide updates to residents and stakeholders as construction progresses.
