Wait times at casualty/emergency at various hospitals during peak periods is being assessed, and it was good to meet with the Regional team regarding both causes, and solutions. Causes identified included residents using emergency instead of visiting their GP to three issues – a lack of 24hr clinics, access to HomeDoctor and access to bulk billing. We are looking at a ‘pilot’ incorporating what is termed ‘diversional’ strategies, to alleviate the use of emergency for non-emergency situations
