The Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP), accompanying the 2025-26 State Budget, confirmed that planning is underway for the Factory Street, Pomona pedestrian crossing, with construction set to begin in 2026-27.

The confirmation of this timeline is appreciated even though we would like it sooner, and Sandy thanks all fellow residents who advocated, including Nick, Brian, Anita and Save Noosa Hinterland for uniting in efforts. This follows the funding being confirmed earlier this year, as well Sandy’s own long-time advocacy on the matter, which included ensuring the design was on track in readiness for this funding.

As mentioned in our January 2025 Noosa 360 update, a meeting with the Minister for Transport and Main Roads (TMR) was held in December regarding the importance of fast tracking this project, which was committed to during the 2024 State Election by both major parties.

There is a pressing need for a pedestrian crossing on Factory St, Pomona, as well as two others in the precinct,  necessary for residents to safely access essential services and their homes. Future users of this infrastructure will also include our school children, who traverse these roads on their way to school and after school activities.

Sandy thanks the Minister for Transport and Main Roads for his efforts regarding Factory Street and for following through on this important commitment.
