A meeting was held between Pomona Men’s Shed (PMS), Noosa Council staff, Councillors and QPWS to address the ongoing concerns surrounding tenure and the Rangers Hut. As clarified by QPWS and their previous correspondence there are no issues, it is just a slow process. As this parcel of land is National Park, it needs to be transferred to an appropriate entity for management, the role of the QPWS is to manage the preservation of land, not to manage land for a community organisation. With Noosa Council reluctant to become trustee of the site, the Department has put requests to other Departments as well written to Council revisit. As the site may not be the most suitable for the expansion as outlined by members of PMS, Noosa Council has committed to provide their strategic officer to work with them on long-term plans including whether it is better to concentrate on a site that will meet their needs into the future. Additionally, it was reiterated that there are no other parties that are being considered or have officially approached QPWS regarding using the Rangers Hut. Until resolved, the halt on the demolition will remain in place.
