Teewah Cooloola Working Group (TCWG)

The last meeting held on 21 Oct 2019 saw the TCWG reach majority consensus that the current cap of 2300 camping permits need to be reduced by 25-50% during peak periods only, to better manage the Cooloola Recreation area, with permit fees increased to maintain current resourcing levels. Day vehicle access permits (VAP) require further investigation as these account for the majority of VAPs issued. The previous suggestion of QPWS conducting a trial over Christmas 2019 and Easter 2020 was not possible due to forward bookings. It was suggested that TCWG works towards a submission to the Great Sandy Management Plan. Contact has been made with Kabi Kabi First Nations representatives. The next meeting is scheduled for 2 March 2020.
