Noosa Hospital is undergoing a temporary expansion under a Development Approval with Noosa Council, via demountable buildings. These will increase capacity for the Emergency Department and help avoid the need for bypassing to other hospitals and thereby reduce ramping at public hospitals.
These temporary buildings will operate 24/7 alongside the existing Emergency Department and will remain on site whilst the permanent expansion is finalised.
It is important to note that Noosa Hospital is a private hospital, although they receive state government funding to assist with emergencies and other scopes of services as allocated by Sunshine Health and Hospital Service. Our closest Public Hospitals are located at Gympie, Nambour and Sunshine Coast University Hospital at Birtinya.
