The following update regarding the widening works scheduled for Kin Kin Road has been provided by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR):

Stage one and two of works on a section of approximately 350-metres of Kin Kin Road is ongoing and work on stage three and four has recently commenced. It is expected all stages of the work will be completed in early 2023, weather and construction scheduling permitting. Please see the map overleaf for the location of work. The works will be undertaken in four stages with some concurrent work undertaken across multiple stages as required. We expect higher truck movements with the asphalt and earthworks. TMR will strive to balance impacts to the community and motorists using the road network during these busier times. TMR is also engaging with local school bus operators who utilise Kin Kin Road to coordinate the delivery of our materials.

Stage 3 and 4 works:

  • vegetation clearing
  • earthworks
  • road widening
  • culvert replacement
  • asphalt works.

Expected impacts:

  • traffic controllers, automated traffic signals, reduced speed limits, road signage and variable message signs will be in place to advise of the changed traffic conditions and to ensure motorist and roadworker safety
  • motorists can expect delays when single lane closures and traffic management are implemented in the work zone
  • priority access through the work site will be given to emergency vehicles
  • majority of works will be undertaken during the day from Monday to Friday between 6am and6pm
  • works will pause over the Christmas/New Year period from mid December 2022 and resume in early January 2023.

Every effort will be made to keep disruptions and noise to a minimum while the works are underway. TMR understands roadworks can be frustrating for nearby businesses, residents and road users and acknowledges the cooperation and patience of stakeholders during these activities. TMR will continue to update residents and stakeholders as construction progresses.
