Now that COVID-19 is out of the ‘emergency’ phase, I have contacted Noosa Council and Sunshine Coast Council for updates regarding the reviews that were underway into identified potential sites, including the former House With No Steps facility. COVID-19 has highlighted the vulnerability of our workers and their families, and I have requested from Minister de Brenni an outline of the plan going forward to address this ongoing historical issue. In addition, I have met with Mayor Clare on the impacts that a lack of affordable ‘digs’ has for our key industry workers in hospitality, age and disability care, which ultimately impacts our services and our community.
