The School Transport Assistance Scheme was the subject of my recent Question on Notice in Parliament, requesting a review. With inflexible criteria that causes issues for many residents trying to access free bus transport to schools, a review is well overdue to better support current needs of students and families. Whilst we will continue efforts to see a full review, it is welcome news that the Department has committed to conducting a comprehensive review of the school bus network in the Traveston, Cooran and Cooroy areas in the 2021 school year. With Noosa District High School having a split campus between Pomona and Cooroy this has created school transport difficulties for residents in some rural areas.
