Julie Ainscough from Noosa Womens Shed Inc
Julie has been involved with the Noosa Womens Shed since its inception, 7 years ago. Julie is the current president and workshop co-ordinator and her inspirational leadership, common sense approach to problems, unwavering optimism and good humour has meant the Shed is just going from strength to strength. She has been instrumental in having over 100 women attain their basic accreditation in how to use tools such as drills, hammers, various types of saws and jigs. Julie continues to provide mentorship and guidance to all the members, new and old. Julie is the most patient teacher and ensures that everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Julie always goes out of her way to make sure that everyone feels welcome and a part of the shed community.
Rachela Battelini from The Hub Food Outlet & Op Shop Noosa
Rachela has been nominated for her love and passion for the Hub and the work it is doing in the community. Rachela has a wonderful ability to create beauty out of nothing wherever she goes. Rachela has a huge heart and her love for people is inspiring. Rachela goes above and beyond in all she does and she is a valuable part of the team.
Connie Beausang from QCWA Tewantin Noosa
Connie has been a treasured member of QCWA for in excess of 20 years. At her birthday in September she will be turning 99. Connie is still an active member of the group – crocheting multiple blankets for Ambulance Wish and Nursing Homes and crocheting the handles for tea towels for monthly stalls. Up until a couple of years ago, Connie was in charge of the Thursday morning craft group, now called the DIY Divas. She has, and still does, work tirelessly for the organisation.
Geoff Black from Noosa & District Landcare Group
Geoff Black has been a stalwart of Noosa and District Landcare Group since its inception in the early 1990s and has been the Secretary for over 10 years. Geoff has volunteered his time over the last 30 years and is described as the “man working away silently in the background, never asking for recognition or accolades”. Well, we want to change that this year, by having his incredible contribution not only to Noosa Landcare recognised, but also for the work he has done in the ecological and natural resource management space across the Noosa Shire. Geoff is dedicated to conserving Noosa’s natural beauty for generations to come.
Edwin Boyd from Noosa Arts Theatre
There is a really closely guarded secret behind the scenes at Noosa Arts Theatre, literally, Secret Men’s Business, the team backstage! This team of dedicated volunteers regularly meet at the theatre to create the backdrops for all of the theatre production. With 3 years of artistic direction by set building and supporting the back of house team. Edwin is genuinely a friendly gentleman, always helpful and willing to lend a hand. When our previous ‘leader’ became sick, Edwin stepped up to help Russell lead the team. He has a strong work ethic to get the job done, with artistic flair, sometimes numerous hours are required to produce the right effect for a set. Ed works tirelessly for the Theatre and generously gives his time, expertise and knowledge as a community minded volunteer with an unparallelled sense of community.
Cheryl Brynes from Katie Rose Cottage Hospice
Cheryl is an outstanding hospice support volunteer at Katie Rose Cottage Hospice. Cheryl brings warmth, kindness, and a deeply compassionate presence to the hospice every Monday morning, setting the tone for the week and making a genuine difference in the lives of guests, their families, and the team. Cheryl greets everyone who walks through the doors with a welcoming smile and a gentle sensitivity that is so essential in a palliative care environment. Her ability to connect with people in a compassionate and respectful way brings great comfort to families during some of the most difficult times in their lives. On top of her regular Monday shifts, Cheryl is always willing to lend a hand at fundraising events and community functions. Her enthusiasm and willingness to help wherever needed never go unnoticed. Cheryl is a very popular member of our volunteer team. Her presence is cherished by both staff and fellow volunteers. In particular, the nursing staff were thrilled to hear she was being nominated – they hold her in the highest regard and deeply value the support she offers both practically and emotionally. Cheryl is one of those quietly exceptional people who make a lasting impact simply by being who they are. Not only is Cheryl a valued presence at the hospice, but she also generously gives her time to two other local charities – a true reflection of her selfless spirit and dedication to her community.
Wendy Caldwell from NoosaCare
Wendy has gone above and beyond in her volunteer duties, consistently showing exceptional dedication, compassion, and reliability. Whether stepping up during busy times, taking on additional responsibilities, or offering support to fellow team members, she has made a significant impact. Her positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile, embody the true spirit of volunteerism, making them a vital part of our NoosaCare Kabara community.
Penny Casey from Peregian Family and Friends
Penny has been involved with Peregian Family and Friends for over 4 years. She has taken on the role of marketing and social media manager for the group. As they run the Peregian Beach Carols and are starting to run forums she has been instrumental in giving her time and fulfilling this role. In addition, she manages the newsletter, works at the events, and is across all things that are happening in the community.
Greg Christensen from Noosa Pirates RLFC
Greg has for decades contributed to the Noosa Pirates. He and his family are mainstays of the club. From his playing days to volunteering, he has selflessly given his time for the benefit of the club. He has had many positions on the Committee; he makes sure the playing fields are in top shape and currently manages the Senior A-Grade side. To have a Volunteer like Greg is a blessing and the club would struggle to run the Pirates without his help and input.
Graham Coghill from Marcus Beach Bushcare Association
Graham Coghill is a founder of the Marcus Beach Bushcare Group that formed to do dune restoration work in 2009. In addition to doing the hard slog of weeding, he brought his life-long passion for education and science. His expertise enabled the group to reach out to the Noosa community and beyond, by providing educational resources and learning opportunities. Graham created an interpretive walk at the main beach access of Marcus Beach, designing and installing the signs that explain the dunal system. Many school groups discover the wonders of the dunes when the group’s volunteers take them on the interpretive walk. Countless numbers of visitors and locals take away the accompanying brochure, which was also written and designed by Graham. In 2015, when the group became an incorporated organization, Graham was the founding President and set out the aims and objectives, giving the Association a clear direction. Over the coming years Graham created the Noosa Coastcare Website, another important community resource providing information on local plants, our worst weeds, gardening with natives and much more. Graham’s love of the environment; his integrity and clarity of purpose; his attention to fact and scientific enquiry set the defining character of the organisation.
Nick Cooke from Save Noosa Hinterland
Nick has been nominated from Save Noosa Hinterland because of his tireless work for the Community with regards to the Environment and for being a voice for the people with respect to all current issues within the Shire. He gives all his time for free and spends countless hours pouring over documents and current legislation to fight for and be a voice for the people.
Jilli Cooper-Peyton from PTSD Dogs
Treasured volunteer Jilli plays such a valuable role at PTSD Dogs and has since the beginning of 2022. Jilli’s main role at PTSD Dogs is Social Media coordinator, she has created a successful social media campaign generating a loyal and valued following for PTSD Dogs and she also joins the Pack in organizing fundraisers and events. Jilli is a blessing to the Pack, she has been a consistent support, loyal and hardworking for the last 3 years. She is a volunteer that PTSD Dogs can whole-heartedly rely on to do what’s needed and she goes above and beyond in support of their cause, wanting the best for both people and pups in need. Her loving, giving and tolerant nature is a safe space within the organisation, and she brings joy and a smile with her to everything she participates in. Her week in, week out consistency in her work is incredible and this organization would not be where we are today without her and we are so grateful that she chose us to support.
Zara Crulci from Lifeline Noosa
She has volunteered at Lifeline Noosa for 5 years. Despite being young, having extra educational needs and now another job, Zara has given her time generously over the years to not only gain valuable life skills and confidence herself but to serve an important role in Lifeline’s lovely community of volunteers and op-shoppers. She is a positive role model for inclusivity and diversity in our community and a fun and valuable member of the team.
Irene Currie from The Salvation Army Noosa
Irene has had unwavering commitment and remarkable service to The Salvation Army Noosa – Big Red Shed for more than five years. Irene has been a cornerstone of their volunteer team, contributing countless hours with a quiet strength, generous spirit, and genuine compassion. Through times of personal hardship and challenge, Irene’s resilience has not only sustained her own commitment but has also inspired everyone around her. Her determination to keep giving, no matter the circumstances, speaks volumes about her character. Whether it’s lending a helping hand on the warehouse floor, mentoring new volunteers, or offering a kind word to someone in need, Irene brings warmth and integrity to everything she does. Her presence at the Big Red Shed is not just valued, it’s essential. She is a shining example of service through adversity, and a true embodiment of The Salvation Army’s mission. Irene’s legacy is one of quiet impact and steadfast dedication. Her service has left an indelible mark on the team and community.
Bruce Cuttle from Tewantin Heritage & Historical Society
Bruce Cuttle joined up as a volunteer at Parkyn’s Hut 5 years ago and during that time he has contributed enormously to the organisation. He joined the Tewantin Heritage & Historical Society Committee, who oversee the running of Parkyn’s Hut, a couple of years ago and currently holds the roles of both Vice President & Historian. The enthusiasm, energy, time & hard work that Bruce puts into researching and sharing our town’s history is outstanding. He holds regular heritage walks around Tewantin,and also showcases local significant events. Most recently they celebrated 150 years since the first electronic communications were sent between Tewantin & Gympie. Bruce also records some interesting stories from our local pioneering families and we are very lucky to have Bruce’s incredible knowledge & abilities in our midst.
Brian Dale from Cooroy Pomona Lions Club
Brian Dale has been President of the Cooroy Pomona Lions Club since July 2024 and a member since April 2015. With a decade of service, his dedication to volunteering is exceptional. Under his direction, the club successfully implemented initiatives like the Lions Bookshop, boosting community engagement. Brian stays actively involved in club projects which include market BBQ, school breakfast club and so much more. As a quiet achiever, he focuses on fulfilling his responsibilities and supporting his teammates, fostering a positive environment for all members.
Nancy Dittrich from Noosa & District Landcare Group
Nancy has volunteered her time at the Noosa Landcare’s Riparian Nursery for over 20 years! As a spritely octogenarian, Nancy leads a cracking team of ladies at the Potters Club, who proudly told General Manager Sharon Wright “we beat our PB this week, potting over 1700 plants in under two hours!”. There’s no messing with Nancy and her team of leading ladies. They mean business but also enjoy sitting down to a lovely homemade cake, a cup of tea and a chat after a morning of getting their hands dirty. Thank you so much Nancy for your incredible contribution to Noosa and District Landcare over two decades, you are a true natural treasure!
Dave Dunwoody from Noosa Beach Classic Car Club
Dave has been a valued and active member of the club for over 15 years. His dedication and passion for the club are evident in the many roles he has taken on. He has served on the Classic Car Show Committee for the past 8 years and has also been a committed member of the Social Committee for 4 years. His involvement in these key areas has greatly enhanced the success and camaraderie of club events. In acknowledgment of his exceptional service, Dave has been awarded both Gold Membership and Life Membership — honors reserved for those who go above and beyond in their support of the club. Always the first to put his hand up to help, Dave is a reliable and enthusiastic volunteer at every club event. His good humor, positive attitude, and warm personality make him a beloved figure among members, and his presence uplifts every gathering.
Ken Eddy from Friends Of Kinaba
Ken has been a member of Friends Of Kinaba management committee for many years. In that time he has contributed in many ways to the ongoing improvements in this facility. Ken is well versed in the history of Kinaba, the upper river, and the local environment, and often engages with interested tourists. He has been a driving force behind water testing for NICA’s ‘Water Watch’ in Lake Cootharaba, Kin-Kin Creek, Fig Tree Lake and Upper Noosa River. Ken has often used his own boat to ferry workers around the waterways, including to Kinaba for Working Bees, and he continues training newcomers in the more recent, grant funded boat, used when needed for all our activities. Ken is a regular participant in FOK’s fund-raising efforts via the “Çontainers for Change ” program and is a very enthusiastic advocate for the continued Health and Welfare of our waterways.
Jim Fagan from Noosa Chorale Inc
Since first joining Noosa Chorale in 2002, Jim has made significant and sustained contributions to the choir’s development in many roles including as historian, fund-raiser, publicist, journalist, media scout, and committee member. Well-respected as a journalist in the local press, Jim has brought his inimitable wordsmithing skills pro bono to writing a vast number of published articles in the press about the choir and its performances over the years. The book he wrote about the choir in 2015, documenting the Chorale’s first fifteen years since establishment, is a treasured record of the choir’s history. Through liaising with other local organisations and individuals on the choir’s behalf, numerous highly successful collaborative initiatives have resulted. His efforts in fund-raising for the Chorale have ensured a range of grants and sponsorships have been secured over the years, shoring up the not-for-profit organisation’s financial security. Jim has served the Chorale with distinction for more than 20 years, and contributed enormously to its reputation and standing in the Noosa arts community.
Greg Furner from Noosa Pirates RLFC
Greg has for many years contributed to the Noosa Pirates in many ways. He’s always there to help with the field and time clocks set up, for both Junior and Senior games. You can always find him working the gate on Senior home game days. These activities are essential to the functioning of the Pirates football club. He sits on the committee and helps in making decisions for the future welfare of the Club and never asks for anything in return. Greg is the perfect example of a Volunteer that any club would be overjoyed to have.
Russell Gentle from Noosa Arts Theatre
Since 2016, almost every Tuesday and Thursday, Russell has been a constant, reliable member of the dedicated backstage team, that volunteers regularly at the theatre to create the backdrops for all of the theatre productions. Russell took over the helm of the backstage team alongside the past President. Building sets and backdrops etc was not enough for Russell, he also pitches in wherever possible with minor maintenance, clearing light box signs, removing curtains, painting stage floors PLUS he keeps the workshop organised and supplied of necessary tools and equipment. Who doesn’t need to have their rechargeable batteries looked after? The bins are always on time and Russell always greets with a smile and helpful attitude providing Noosa Arts Theatre with such a positive culture that they call him their Angel.
Ron Gunn from Noosa 2010 Combined Probus Club
Ron has volunteered as Treasurer of Noosa 2010 Combined Probus Club for three years and is responsible for preparing and presenting monthly financial reports. He has managed the club’s bank account, recorded all income received at meetings, and ensured timely payment of expenses. He has maintained accurate digital records of attendance and meeting dates, acted as liaison with affiliated organisations, including Probus South Pacific and Probus Queensland and provided regular updates on the club’s financial position.
Avis Hannah from QCWA Tewantin Noosa
Avis has been a member of QCWA Tewantin Noosa for over a decade. During this time she has been a huge contributor to stall fundraisers with plants and baking. Her gardening and cooking skills are second to none even now at the age of 93 (94 in August this year). Just recently, Avis contributed pots and hanging baskets, that she had created, along with baking, working tirelessly serving customers during the morning from start to finish. She has always been a huge contributor to the branch and deserves recognition for her tireless support.
Tony Haslam from Noosa Integrated Catchment Association and its Urban Wildlife Gardens Program
Tony has worked tirelessly and passionately as a volunteer in Noosa for over 20 years to help monitor, protect and improve Noosa’s natural environment. He is actively involved in a number of programs which encourage best practice land management in urban areas to increase Noosa’s biodiversity. He has taken on many roles with NICA and has maintained an active role in many NICA programs. Too many to list but a few highlights include helping with water testing and general rubbish collection with the River Rangers; manned the NICA tent at many community events; has been active in the weeding group for years and has participated in numerous NICA ‘Clean Up Australia’ events. He encouraged the Bushcare volunteer group to partner with NICA and is an active participant in many tree planting days. Tony instigated rehabilitation of Sand Island in 2010 as weed infestation was hindering the feeding and roosting of migratory shorebirds and this continues today. Tony has also spent hours contributing to the creation of many of NICA’s Books and Publications, liaising with authors and publishers. In 2019 he co-founded, with his wife Stephanie, Urban Wildlife Gardens as a NICA program and has held various roles on the subcommittee since and helped to organize and run many monthly workshops and open garden visits. He has been responsible for many funding applications and acquittals for both groups. Tony never seeks acknowledgement, is always supportive of all other members and gets things done efficiently and without any fuss.
Louise Hayse from Sunshine Coast Screen Collective
Louise Hayse is Secretary of the Sunshine Coast Screen Collective and Producer of the Sunny Coast Showdown and has provided significant contributions to the screen industry in Noosa and the broader community. Since the inception of the Sunny Coast Showdown in 2021, Louise has been instrumental in its development and success. As a founding committee member and producer, she has played a pivotal role in establishing this not-for-profit talent and idea incubator, which provides funding, mentorship, and production support to emerging filmmakers on the Sunshine Coast. Her efforts have been crucial in creating a platform that nurtures local talent and brings regional stories to the screen. She has been actively involved in fostering partnerships that enhance the reach and impact of the Sunny Coast Showdown. Her commitment to creating real pathways for practitioners in the region has transformed the local screen industry.
Tom Heitmann from Cooroy-Noosa Genealogical & Historical Research Group Inc
Tom has been with the Group since 2018 and in 2021 there was a turnover of senior members and Tom stepped into the breach and was elected President for 3 years and is now Vice President. During his presidency, the Group’s constitution was revised to include a limitation of terms served by key committee members. The President serves for 3 years before having to step down for at least 2 years before being able to be re-elected. However, as he could be elected as Vice-President, Tom was elected to this position in 2024 which has enabled him to continue his tireless work for the Group.
In addition to his role as Vice President, Tom is also the Membership Secretary. He creates and distributes a monthly newsletter and works as the Grants Officer. He works with the Council and prepares Grant Applications which has resulted in the Council providing regular funding for the Group. This requires the creation of budgets and reporting to Council on how the funds provided were spent. As well as cash payments, he installed an EFTPOS machine so that funds received could be received by card with direct deposit to a group bank account. His skills have been and continue to be invaluable for the group.
Sally Heron from Noosa Shire Arts & Crafts Association
Sally has been a member of Noosa Shire Arts & Crafts Association for over 20 years. She has been an active management committee member for more than half of those years. She has looked after the Wattle Studio shop for many years, organised exhibitions and also helped out at every event the association holds. She is a talented fabric artist and leads a group in this art form. She takes online courses and then conducts workshops to share her new knowledge. She is a generous member and is always willing to lend a hand.
Brett Hill from Katie Rose Cottage Hospice
Brett is an exceptional volunteer at Katie Rose Cottage Hospice. As a vital member of the gardening team, Brett plays a key role in maintaining the beautiful three-acre grounds that surround the hospice—an environment that brings peace and comfort to guests and their families. Brett arrives each week with a smile on his face and a new joke to share, lifting the spirits of everyone he meets. Despite rain, Queensland humidity, or scorching sun, Brett works tirelessly to keep the gardens looking immaculate. His presence is steady, respectful, and always attuned to the sensitivity required in a palliative care setting. Brett is also known for his infectious laugh and calm, grounding presence, making him a popular and much-loved member of the volunteer team. Beyond his hard work in the gardens, he brings a genuine sense of care for his fellow volunteers. He consistently checks in on the wellbeing of the older members of the gardening team, ensuring that no one is overdoing it in the often harsh Queensland conditions. The value of Brett’s contribution to the hospice cannot be overstated.
Ally Hollier from P&C Cooran State School
For the past eight years, Ally has been a dedicated and consistent presence in the school and community, quietly giving her time, energy, and care to support children, families, and school staff. Ally has volunteered in classrooms, reading with students, helping teachers, doing stage and costume design for the annual Year 5/6 musical, and assisting at school events. From sports carnivals and Mother’s Day stalls to decorating for the Halloween disco, Ally has always been one of the key crew members to show up. Her involvement extends to early childhood support, where she regularly volunteered at the weekly playgroup. She has also helped manage the uniform shopand has been a steady and reliable volunteer in the school tuckshop, helping nearly every Friday morning for five hours. Her contribution there has been invaluable, helping to feed and care for hundreds of students over the years. Ally has served as a member of the P&C taking on various responsibilities and always contributing positively behind the scenes. In 2023, despite being naturally introverted and hesitant about taking on such a public role, Ally stepped up to become P&C President. This role challenged her personally, but she met it with courage and resilience, gaining confidence and continuing to advocate for the school and families with quiet determination.
What makes Ally truly deserving of this recognition is not just her years of service, but her humility. Her only motivation has been to give back to her community, to be present for her children, and to support the broader school family in any way she can. She represents the very best of what community spirit looks like – dependable and generous.
Val Hooper from Noosa Little Athletics
Val has been involved with Noosa Little Athletics for 21 years and her involvement has been the true meaning of the word ‘commitment’. Val has thrown herself into any and many tasks on the committee including center manager, secretary, registrar, canteen convenor and more recently treasurer. Val has served on the Little Athletics Qld Board of directors for 8 years, completing her time last season and earned her Distinguished Merit award from LAQ. Her enthusiasm in supporting young athletes has been evident in her involvement at center events, regional events, coaching, officiating, and at schools sports competitions. Seeking grants and fundraising opportunities has been a strength that has seen the development of infrastructure and equipment at Girraween grounds. Val is passionate about the sport of athletics and the opportunities that Little athletics provides for our young athletes. She is a wonderful ambassador which is evident in the great rapport she has with all athletes.
Helen Jarden from Majestic Theatre
A longtime resident of Pomona, Helen Jarden has been volunteering at the Majestic Theatre Pomona for almost 3 years. Apart from helping out with chores around the theatre, she collects all champagne corks and recycles them. Although it’s still a mystery as to what she does with them. She is a familiar face at the bar on any weekend they have an event, which is pretty much every weekend. Helen works full time at Nambour Hospital, and the Majestic Theatre team often wonder how she manages to fit it all in. But she does, and with a smile. An outstanding, kind and hardworking volunteer!
Bernard Jean from Wildlife Noosa
Bernard has provided extraordinary and tireless contributions to the Noosa Shire, particularly in the areas of Koala rescue and welfare. Bernard’s unwavering dedication to the care of our wildlife has made him a valuable member of the Noosa communityand a true local hero. He has devoted his life to protecting and caring for animals, with a particular expertise in Koalas. As a recognised expert in the rescue and care of Koalas, Bernard is the go-to person the community turns to when a Koala is in need — and he responds immediately, no matter the time of day or night, and regardless of weather conditions. His connection to the local Koala population is deeply personal. Bernard quite literally knows each Koala in Noosa by name. He knows where they live, how they are coping in urban areas, and regularly performs welfare checks to ensure they remain healthy and safe. It is this level of dedication that sets Bernard apart — he doesn’t just rescue Koalas, he looks after them like family. Bernard generously volunteers his time and expertise with numerous wildlife organisations, including Wildlife Noosa, Noosa Parks Association, Wildcare, Noosa and Sunshine Coast Region Koala Rescue Team and Queensland Koala Crusaders. He also serves as the Administrator for the Noosa Koala Sightings group, a vital resource that helps track, raise awareness and monitor local Koalas, ensuring a quick response to sightings and any potential issues. His selflessness, expert knowledge, and commitment to the preservation of our wildlife is inspiring.
Michael Kavali from The Salvation Army Noosa
Mike Kavali’s unwavering dedication to serving the community through The Salvation Army has made a profound and lasting impact on some of our most vulnerable populations. His visionary leadership and compassionate commitment have notably advanced support for men grappling with mental health challenges with pioneering the Salvos Mates Support program. Recognising the unique challenges faced by homeless women, he spearheaded the development of Safe Carpark, a secure, dignified, and accessible safe haven for women who find themselves sleeping in their cars —an initiative that not only provides physical safety but also restores hope and self-worth. This Safe Carpark stands as a model of innovative social care, ensuring that women in desperate circumstances have access to protection, resources, and pathways to a better future. Mike has consistently demonstrated a keen understanding of the multifaceted nature of homelessness and mental health issues. Mike’s transformative contributions are a testament to his innovative spirit and commitment to dignity for all.
Keiran & Maree Kearney from Noosa Dolphins Rugby Union Club
Husband and wife team Keiran and Maree Kearney have volunteered for the Noosa Dolphins RUFC for over 30 years. Keiran is known mainly for his role as field curator but has undertaken many other roles over the years such as club manager, junior president and droopy dolphin committee member. Maree has volunteered in all areas of the club and still works tirelessly to ensure all that visit or are involved with the club, receive a pleasant down-to-earth special experience. When there is work to be done to benefit others at the Noosa Dolphins Rugby club the Kearneys will be there.
Maryanne Lillecrapp from Sunshine Butterflies
Maryanne has been Volunteering at Sunshine Butterflies for 2yrs on a weekly basis in our learning kitchen and pantry. Maryanne has provided assistance to many members, staff, visitors and supported employment with companionship, serving, baking, cooking and cleaning. Maryanne is famous throughout Sunshine Butterflies for the incredible Anzac Biscuits she makes in the kitchen! Maryanne contributes to the Sunshine Butterflies community with her infectious positivity and wonderful sense of humour, empathy, kindness, friendly disposition and can-do attitude. When Maryanne is not busy making a difference at Sunshine Butterflies, she is involved in the horse racing industry and is an esteemed horse artist.
Marshall Mackay from Tewantin Noosa Tennis Club
Marshall has been the coordinator of the maintenance team for many years. He organises the group of volunteers to undergo mowing, cleaning of courts, fighting mould and doing the dozens of repair jobs that make the Club successful. His mechanical knowledge has been a huge asset for the Club and has resulted in the invention of a duster to keep the courts in good shape. As well, Marshall assists with BBQs, tournaments, and fund raising. His efforts over the years have been highly appreciated by the membership of the Club.
Dean Marsh from Majestic Theatre
Dean is a longtime volunteer of the Majestic Theatre Pomona having been with the theatre for 9 years. He held a position on the management committee from 2018 to 2019 and puts many hours into working on the Majestic bar for a variety of shows as well as helping with other tasks around the theatre. Dean does a lot of other community work including volunteering for 6 years at Boomerang Bags Pomona, partaking in sewing and machine repairs. He also held the position of President of Tall Trees Art Festival in 2024 and currently holds the position of Vice President with them for 2025. Dean is also a musician, singer and all-round great guy always willing to help out his community. You can often catch Dean with his band “Folked Up” performing around the hinterland for fundraisers. Dean Marsh is an awesome community champion!

Di is always looking for the hidden value in everything as well as in those people around her. She is always looking to restore items and create an opportunity for them to be re-purposed, admired and loved once again.
Ian & Liz McNaughton from Waves of Kindness
Liz and Ian have been volunteering with Waves of Kindness for over 17 incredible years! Their commitment and passion are driven by the amazing people they work alongside and the cause they proudly support. Volunteering two days a week, Ian can often be found out the back sorting through book donations, while Liz is busy cleaning, sorting, pricing, and getting all of our kitchen stock out and ready for sale. Waves of Kindness are truly blessed to have these two hardworking and devoted volunteers as part of their team. Michelle Moore from Noosa Little Athletics
Michelle has been involved with Noosa Little Athletics for over 19 years, when she first joined her children. In 2012 she joined the committee and has held the roles of PR Officer, Canteen Coordinator, Centre Manager, Arena Manager and Parent Liaison Officer. Not one to sit around at a local level, Michelle also assists at regional level for SunCoast Little Athletics taking different roles over the past 12 years. Michelle has an enormous amount of experience, knowledge & skills in officiating in the sport and also officiates at State level. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Little Athletics Qld and is a LAQ Competition Committee member.
Roger Mountford from Tewantin Noosa Tennis Club
Roger has been a volunteer at the Tewantin Noosa Tennis Club for about 20 years. In that time, he has amassed hundreds of hours in cleaning, maintaining the club facilities and assisting with BBQs and tournaments. He is a legend at the Club for all the time and effort that he has put into ensuring that the Club maintains its high standards.
Dan Munday from Sunny Coast Showdown
Dan has been a driving force behind the growth of the screen industry in Noosa and the wider Sunshine Coast region. As a co-founder and executive producer of the Sunny Coast Showdown in 2021, Dan has played a pivotal role in creating a platform that nurtures local filmmaking talent and fosters regional storytelling. Under Dan’s leadership, the Sunny Coast Showdown, now in its fourth year, has evolved from a modest initiative into a significant incubator for screen projects. Dan’s commitment extends beyond the screen industry. His efforts have had a broader impact on the community by promoting cultural development and providing opportunities for local youth to engage in creative pursuits. Through his work, Dan has demonstrated a sustained dedication to enriching the cultural fabric of Noosa and the Sunshine Coast and empowering individuals to tell their stories.
John O’Halloran from Sunshine Coast Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Inc.
John has been a member of SCRDA since 2005 and has contributed in many ways. He has been a past President and Treasurer and currently helps at the monthly Bunnings Sausage Sizzles. He also manages all the IT for the organisation including website, computer back-ups, trouble shooting etc. In the wider community he helps with the IT at the Noosa Men’s Shed and helps members with their computer troubles. John helps at the local Catholic church doing garden maintenance and as Mass Reader and Co-ordinator. Also a volunteer JP in the local community, he can be regularly found at Noosa Civic, Noosa Court House and Coolum Library providing JP services, sometime 3 or 4 times a week. John helps at the local Park Run in Noosaville either as a Park Run Director or other helper for timing etc.
Gill Paling from Noosa 2010 PROBUS Club
Gill has provided outstanding service as Secretary of this club in Noosa for over the past eight years. She has always been committed to the club, is extremely diligent and reliable, always caring for the well-being of our members, and over this time she has managed the clubs administration, communication, technical issues, and has helped immensely with the smooth operation of many activities, including the walking group and dining events. Gill consistently goes above and beyond anything asked of her, assisting with many social events and supporting members. Her dedication has not only kept the club thriving and has enabled the club to continue its existence through her volunteer efforts.
Ken Plunkett from Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club
Ken Plunkett was honoured a life membership with the Club for his outstanding and continued support of Noosa Sailability – Sailing for All Abilities which runs from March to September every year. The program is led by qualified instructors and supported by dedicated volunteers, with Ken at the helm! People with disability or socially disadvantaged, can experience the freedom of sailing with Noosa Sailability! Ken is also a member of the local men’s shed and is passionate about supporting the community.
Aimee Poyner from Cooroy Badminton Club
Aimee has been Treasurer for Cooroy Badminton club for over 12years, giving not only support for the Committee, but unwavering support for our Members. No task is ever too much trouble, her honesty and commitment to the club over all these years has been invaluable. The Club would not exist without Aimee, when volunteers are hard to find, Aimee has put her hand up to help.
Robyn Sanders from Noosa Womens Shed Inc
Robyn has been involved with the Noosa Womens Shed since its inception 7 years ago and is the current Vice President. Robyn has been the driving force behind the building of their new shed at Wallum Lane Noosa Heads and has been instrumental in seeking funding by way of various grants. Robyn has been an amazing advocate for the Shed, pushing forward against all odds, keeping the vision and the inspiration going. Robyn continues to volunteer her time with working bees, workshops, fundraising and always puts her hand to help wherever it is needed.
Gloria Schultz from NoosaCare
For over 15 years, Gloria has been a cherished member of the NoosaCare volunteer team. Her warmth, reliability, and compassion have made a lasting impact on both residents and staff. Gloria regularly assists in NoosaCare Carramar’s Lodges, serving meals, tea, and coffee with a big smile. Twice a week, she leads bingo and crossword sessions at Carramar activities which residents genuinely look forward to. Gloria is a crossword wiz, and her enthusiasm is infectious, creating a fun, engaging environment that brings joy and mental stimulation. Her consistency, humility, and heartfelt connection to residents make her a truly deserving nominee for this award.
Julie Schultz from Tewantin Netball Club
Julie has dedicated many hours of service to Tewantin Netball Club and now she is also on the committee of the Noosa Netball Association. She has served on the committee of Tewantin Netball Club for 10 years and is the current club president even though her own daughter no longer plays for the club. This will be Julie’s final year of service to TNC as she takes on bigger responsibilities at Noosa Netball.
Peppie Simpson from Noosa Festival of Surfing
Peppie has been a major voluntary contributor to the Noosa Festival of Surfing for decades – even before they took over the Festival management in 2018. She has always assisted with valuable feedback on previous & new initiatives. She has a deep connection with the Festival & is passionate about its importance to Noosa. In recent years, Peppie actively championed the return of the Mixing Of The Waters Ceremony as part of the official opening ceremony for the Festival which had been dropped during the COVID years. Peppie is an integral part of the Festival brains trust. She is also a senior member of the Noosa Malibu Club.

Cooroy Pomona Lions Club member Ashley Stephenson has dedicated 21 years to Lions, serving eight terms as club president along with various other significant roles. His commitment to volunteering is evident, as he consistently brings a smile and words of encouragement to all. A true team player, Ashley is always willing to assist with numerous projects and activities, including Cash for Cans, market barbecues, breakfast club, marshalling at sporting events, and much more. Kim Vines from Pomona Memorial School Of Arts Hall
Kim Vines has been the volunteer treasurer for the Pomona Memorial School of Arts Hall since 2000 and has devoted 22 years to coaching students of all ages in JKA Shotokan Karate. A humble achiever, Kim is committed to excellence and places a strong emphasis on the nurturing and well-being of others. In both roles, Kim exemplifies genuine leadership and steadfast dedication.
David Watts from Tewantin Noosa Lions Club
David joined Tewantin Noosa Lions Club 25 years ago. He has held multiple Lions Cabinet Positions including District Governor of 56 Clubs in the District of Central Queensland. He has also been the Treasurer, President twice and secretary twice. He has been a mover and shaker in the Club arranging many new local community projects including the annual distribution of around $40,000 of funds back into our community. David can often be found helping out at many of the Lions activities, such as supporting those with disability needs, hearing medical dogs program for diabetes, car parking, walk to school program, little Nippers and Sailability. He has donated countless hours of his time to raising funds and helping those in our community that are not travelling too well due to financial or health circumstances and helping to build the community through legacy projects such as Lions Park and the Meals on Wheels facility. He is a man dedicated to serving others.
Gisa Weatherill from Noosa FM Community Radio
Gisa is extraordinary volunteer who has dedicated over two decades of service to Noosa FM Community Radio Station. Joining the community radio family in 2002 and since becoming one of the most valued and respected members. Since 2018, Gisa has served diligently as the station’s Treasurer, bringing her careful attention to detail and professional expertise to this vital role. Her financial stewardship has helped ensure the station’s continued stability and growth. Gisa’s contribution to Noosa FM extends far beyond her treasury duties. As a presenter, she has delighted listeners with engaging programs featuring European music, sharing fascinating insights about performers and their songs. Her reliability and willingness to support fellow presenters by filling in whenever needed exemplifies her team spirit and dedication. In her daily involvement at the station, Gisa readily assists anyone seeking help with technical matters. Her supportive nature shines through in everything she does – from helping with grant applications and fundraising initiatives to maintaining relationships with our community subscriber groups and sponsors. Gisa’s assistance in organising meetings, including our Annual General Meeting, and her support of station management and administration have been invaluable. Her positive attitude and fair-minded approach make her a respected team player who helps create a welcoming environment for all.

Henry Weatherill from Noosa FM Community Radio
Henry Weatherill has been a valued member of Noosa FM 101.3 since 2002. Over the last eight years he has been a Handyman to management and has carried out his responsibilities with unwavering diligence, enthusiasm, and professionalism, becoming an indispensable part of the organisation. Henry’s contributions reflect his versatility and commitment with his duties and achievements including organising and securing free use of commercial facilities; setting up marquees, seating, and weather protection for community-related activities such as Australia Day; assistance with the maintenance and upkeep of 101.3FM facilities whenever needed; managing the organisation of the station’s storage facilities; ensuring the environmentally friendly disposal of community-sensitive materials; raising funds through recycling initiatives e.g. Cash for Cans; and devotedly attending to the management’s requests, whether it’s furniture assembly, facility or furniture repairs, or other tasks beyond their capacity. Henry listens with patience and understanding, thoughtfully considers the best approach, and either carries out the work himself or ensures the right person is found to get the job done. Beyond his impressive list of contributions, Henry’s personality is what makes him truly stand out. He is consistently happy bringing positivity to every task and interaction, enthusiastic tackling even the most challenging tasks with energy and passion, supportive offering encouragement and assistance to everyone around him and energetic – maintaining a tireless dedication to his role and the community. Henry Weatherill embodies the very spirit of volunteerism.
Michele Wessling from P&C Cooran State School
Michele’s selfless dedication to her community spans over four decades, with more than 25 years of direct service in her local school and the broader Cooran community. Michele has been the heart and soul of school volunteering since her eldest daughter began school 45 years ago. For over 20 years, she was the main organiser and volunteer for the school tuckshop, a role she performed tirelessly until 2021, when it transitioned to a paid position of 10 hours per week. Michele’s volunteer efforts have persisted outside her paid hours. She was a key figure in planning, fundraising for, and organising the new school tuckshop kitchen in 2022. She hosts and volunteers weekly at the school’s free breakfast program, volunteers for the Living Classroom project where Year 3 and 5 students cook in the tuckshop, and has supported other kitchen garden projects. She also volunteers for the Term 4 Year 6 MasterChef initiative, preparing the tuckshop for and cleaning up. She persistently shares her expertise and time generously. Michele has been instrumental in organising and volunteering for countless school and community events over the past four decades. Beyond the school gates, Michele is a respected advocate and pillar of the Cooran community. She is always ready to lend a hand or offer a listening ear. She has mentored many students and other parent volunteers to step up and grow in confidence. Her care, compassion, and steadfast support are felt across every corner of the community.
Scott Williams from Noosa Community Foundation
Scott Williams is a founding director of Noosa Community Foundation, which is just another example of his broader support for the Queensland community. Elevated to Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in January 2023, Scott has demonstrated exceptional service to business, tertiary education, and philanthropy. His leadership roles include serving as the Independent Chair of the Noosa Council Audit Committee and as a member of the University of the Sunshine Coast Council, where he was elected Deputy Chancellor. Additionally, Scott has been instrumental in mentoring small businesses through Business Mentoring Noosa and the newly established MentorSME program. Scott’s philanthropic efforts are profound, shown at Noosa Community Foundation which was established in December 2023 to support local charities and provide scholarships to students from across greater Noosa. His instrumental role in the set up of the Foundation also supports other groups and charities who want to fundraise to do so more easily, transparently and with accountability. Scott brings together a group of volunteers, helping each one of them make their contribution to the foundation, always with care, kindness and good humour. He is very much the foundation from which Noosa Community Foundation exists.
