๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ (๐๐๐)๐ฉโโ๏ธIt was an honour, as well an immense privilege, to be one of the two delegates accompanying our Speaker to represent Queensland 37 hrs away in Barbados ๐ค. Connecting and workshopping with parliamentarians from 56 countries that represent 1/3 of the worldโs population, yes 2.7 billion people, was incredibly educational, grounding and inspirational. Lectures, feedback and topics covered building trust through transparency in all forms including financial๐ฐ integrity and better behaviours of political parties and MPโs, discriminatory practices and the challenges of misinformation through AI social engineering as examples. As well the importance of protecting the separation of powers, strengthening institutions and building engagement to support democracy ๐ณ๏ธ. Despite our packed schedule, my 5am walks unearthed the essence of the host country, with the warmth and hospitality always remembered โค๏ธ. Listening to and meeting Prime Minister Mia Mottley left me with insights that I had not previously realised, such as that the people we represent engage with us in their own time and way, not how and when we determine! This may explain how difficult it is to get everyone to respond to surveys? ๐ค How I wish we could find a way to increase feedback and turn the tide on what fellow MPs from such diverse cultures feel is โapathyโ or โcomplacencyโ. Gratitude to our government for the opportunity to represent Queensland and to all that myself and fellow delegate Mark Furner MP for Ferny Grove workshopped with from The Gambia to India, Singapore to Canada, Malaysia to Tonga and so many more!๐ This experience has left me more committed than ever to seeing greater improvement in Chamber behaviours, electoral reform that ends unfair advantages, parliamentary processes that are more efficient, transparent and people centric, and a culture that promotes bipartisan agreements. This as part of Queensland and Australia leading the way and assisting many of our fellow Commonwealth countries that are experiencing so many hardships that we have progressed from. ![]()

Amongst the many phenomenal people, I am blessed to meet every day, tonight I share two beautiful women who visited us for the โQuiet Please for MND & Meโ catchup to raise funds for text-to-speech apps and eye-to-text monitors for Queenslanders with Motor Neurone Disease. This by inviting us to stay silent for 24 hours ๐คซwhich I am still figuring out how to do! Gratitude and immense love to Gina, Leanne, their families and carers, who moved me in ways I could never have imagined, and whose resilience and positivity in the face of one of the most devastating conditions, is more than inspiring. Subject to weather and construction conditions, works are scheduled to begin later this month and will be carried out intermittently until December 2025. ![]()

๐ Temporary traffic changes including lane closures, roadworks speed limit reductions and short-term traffic disruptions will be in place to ensure motorist and roadworker safety.![]()
๐Motorists should allow extra time when planning their travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers. ![]()

๐๐๐? ๐ Following whale entanglements here at home and the Oceans for All meeting, where over 70% of Noosa groups in attendance representing business ๐งโ๐ผenvironment ๐ฒ and water-user ๐ groups supported trialling safe alternatives to nets during whale migration season, I spoke of this in Parliament. Despite interjections, I highlighted evidence including from the 2019 Federal Court determination ๐งโโ๏ธ Administrative Appeals Tribunal and University of Wollongong research ๐งโ๐ which reported nets do not improve swimmer safety. That government ignores this evidence, as well KPMG recommendations to transition away from nets and calls from Noosa Council and our community, I asked a simple question. Given that safe alternatives to nets are utilised successfully elsewhere, for government to listen to our community and work towards replacing nets with these during migrations.
