With the works mentioned in our July 2024 Noosa 360 update recently actioned by Transport and Main Roads (TMR) including resurfacing the railway overpass and the intersection with Myall/ Elm Street, there was a commitment from the new government to fund an upgrade business case and designs for both the Myall/ Elm and the Diamond/ Elm Street intersections.

Considering this, we sought a timeline on delivery, as well a further commitment to construction funding, with the Minister for TMR confirming preliminary planning has been undertaken for the upgrade of the intersections and that the department was in process of developing project scope and timelines.

It is important to note that the majority of Cooroy including the overpass and these intersections are outside of the Noosa electorate, however many of our residents own nearby businesses surrounding, traverse the route daily to access essential services and commute to work, hence our advocacy. We will continue to update as more information becomes available.

The new State Member of Parliament (MP) for Nicklin, which is the location of these intersections, is Marty Hunt MP, who can be contacted via nicklin@parliament.qld.gov.au.
