๐๐๐๐๐โ๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ โ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐โ !๐ Another fabulous session by our youngest entrepreneurs at St Teresa's Catholic College in their annual 100k Entrepreneur Classroom Project. Fellow judges Mike, David and I had the hardest of tasks assessing and giving feedback โspeed dateโ style on the many products pitched for investment, including where I had to taste test a healthy dog treat to demonstrate how you must always stand by what you say to sell? ๐๐ฅฐ So many great ideas that were inspirational involving our circular economy to end food waste, as well practical using waste to cleanse and beautify! ๐๐ฉท ๐. Thank you to teachers Ben, Courtney and to all students, we loved every moment and I STILL! want to know the recipe for Mr Curly ๐and how salt is going to sort out my wrinkles? ๐๐คฃ๐๐๐Go well everyone, see you at the markets and online!

๐STATE FACILITATED DEVELOPMENT (SFD) CLARIFICATION โ with recent media reporting and statements by other MPs, there appears to be some confusion regarding the Tewantin SFD, which the community overwhelmingly opposed due to flawed nature of the process including the circumnavigation of the planning scheme. Words used in these types of applications of โaffordableโ led some to believe this would address our ongoing need for affordable housing for our key industry workers, which was not the case. As I said when I opposed the SFD legislation in April 2024 that allow for these applications, there is a need for realistic, genuine thresholds of eligibility, and the current criteria of below $799,000 is insufficient and needs to be tightened substantially. Whilst our community appreciated the Deputy Premierโs intervention in revoking the application, and look forward to seeing the developer work with Noosa Council moving forward, we need the system reviewed as well genuine affordable projects in the pipeline that meet community expectations be expedited.

๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐คINCREASED POLICE AND MARITIME PATROLS โ as mentioned last week, tactical plans over the school holidays for Noosa and the Sunshine Coast are seeing a โzero toleranceโ approach, which in addition to our roads includes deployment of extra highway patrol officers to North Shore, Teewah Beach and Rainbow Beach, roadside breath and drug tests, speed enforcement, seatbelt monitoring, and illegal modifications and defective vehicles compliance. Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) are also conducting an intensive compliance campaign on our waterways, focusing on failure to wear a lifejacket and excessive speed, the two leading causes of boating fatalities.
