๐๐๐๐โ๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ก Much needed are initiatives that address the need for safe, affordable housing for women escaping domestic and family violence, which is what Simone and Elizabeth from Nanaโs Nest are endeavouring to do! Connecting our young mums, often with infants and no family supports, to women over 55 with a wealth of life experience in a shared space anchored in care and community, is a practical, compassionate solution. However it takes funding to make this a reality, and we are seeking through our networks both partners and sponsors to add to the funds already raised to purchase a suitable site.

๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ข Support for the two bills ๐ covering the expansion of Jacks Law ๐ฎโโ๏ธ, and administrative changes regarding the Parole Board and the Marine Rescue and State Emergency Services Acts, turned into eruptions after my speech with a last-minute amendment regarding toll roads. Regardless, this did not detract from the incredible journey of Brett and Belinda Beasley, whose efforts to protect communities from knife crime after the murder of their son Jack, has seen legislation regarding knives become permanent. In future may we not see these types of last minute unrelated and contentious additions included, as it was inappropriate, and disrespectful.

๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ค Uplifting, informative, reflective and some parts a bit โscaryโ when we met โDerekโ๐ซฃ๐คฃ the Noosa Arts Theatre was filled with real stories, connections, and a huge amount of heart with proceeds going to our Noosa Coolum Salvos โฅ Gratitude and congratulations to fellow speakers who demonstrated that wisdom comes from living, not just learning! And yes, I was envious of anyone who had props, including Matt Golinski - Official who filleted a salmon on stage whilst sharing about the huge impact of kindness, both giving and receiving. Huge kudos to Tony and the Walk With Wisdom crew for creating a space where all can be brave and reminding us of the power of connectivity and sharing of vulnerabilities. ๐ฉท
