Thank you to all we encountered for your views either for or against (including some not printable! 😀) as even though the sample was small due to the large number of visitors as well time constraints, it was extremely invaluable.![]()

👮👮♀️🚓 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗥𝗔 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗚 - The launch of high-visibility patrols targeting anti-social behaviour has commenced across the Sunny Coast and Noosa through to after the Christmas holidays, with extra Youth Co-Responder teams also out and about as per recommendations from the former Youth Justice Reform Committee report. This is welcomed especially after car theft last week in our community, and I remind everyone to please lock your cars and homes to ensure we are not seen as easy targets by opportunists from elsewhere, as well here! 😡![]()
🎖️SURF LIFE SAVING BRAVERY MEDALS – Sunshine Beach lifeguard Tommy Cervi and life member Max Pettigrove have been recognised for their courageous efforts during Tropical Cyclone Alfred, when they launched a jet ski into extreme surf in fading light to rescue two teenage swimmers. To finish! My first visit to the Australian Parliament (and Canberra – brrrr! 🥶) I was so impressed by all we encountered, also by what I saw and learnt! Gratitude to Federal Speaker Milton Dick & Deputy Clerk Peter Banson for their warm hospitality and to our own Speaker, Clerk and to fellow MPs from both sides as the ‘learnings” 🧑⚖ were invaluable! 𝐃𝐅𝐕 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 & 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒 🚓 With this legislation enabling further protections by empowering police 👮 to issue 12-month orders, electronic monitoring for perpetrators and the streamlining of court evidence procedures 👩⚖️ I thought it would have widespread support. However, organisations and DFV advocates opposed aspects due to concerns including misidentification of perpetrators, bypassing of court processes and limiting victim’s access to legal advice and support services ⚖️. In learning of these, I made a plea to the government to work with QCOSS and the DFV sector to mitigate risks and address concerns, as well to perpetrators and their families and friends, as it is up to all of us to end what continues to traumatise communities across QLD 😢. This year’s annual dog expo on Gympie Terrace raises funds for Smart Pups Assistance Dogs and the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge and gave us a wonderful opportunity to chat in the sun, for my Bear and Coco to practice their social skills 😂 and to listen to the great vibes from Adam-James Somboli. 🎉 Gratitude to the volunteers, sponsors and charity partners, as well to Miss Piglet for the driving lesson!! 🐶🤩![]()
