𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇 ‘𝐌𝐎𝐁𝐘’ 🚙 You know I always love visiting our businesses and chatting with ressies ‘streetside’, and the markets are a special treat as I get to do both, as well get ‘prepped’ for some upcoming shopping? 😋 In addition, we heard from Noosa electorate residents on governments proposal for a shark net for Peregian Beach North 🦈 with an overwhelming 95% in opposition. Thank you to all we encountered for your views either for or against (including some not printable! 😀) as even though the sample was small due to the large number of visitors as well time constraints, it was extremely invaluable.Following the biggest earthquake in South East Queensland in 50 years 😲the information we had on hand on getting ‘disaster ready’ was snapped up🏡 and as always I can only reiterate that knowledge decreases fears, and is a vital part of keeping everyone safe. 👩🚒 Again, gratitude to all we encountered for a great morning and for making your voices heard! 🗣️👉 For our latest update on shark nets, visit www.sandybolton.com/shark-nets-and-control-measures-update-july-2025/👉 For information on how to be prepared for a disaster, visit www.getready.qld.gov.au/... 𝐃𝐅𝐕 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 & 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒 🚓 With this legislation enabling further protections by empowering police 👮 to issue 12-month orders, electronic monitoring for perpetrators and the streamlining of court evidence procedures 👩⚖️ I thought it would have widespread support. However, organisations and DFV advocates opposed aspects due to concerns including misidentification of perpetrators, bypassing of court processes and limiting victim’s access to legal advice and support services ⚖️. In learning of these, I made a plea to the government to work with QCOSS and the DFV sector to mitigate risks and address concerns, as well to perpetrators and their families and friends, as it is up to all of us to end what continues to traumatise communities across QLD 😢.
