There has been misinformation (and more than a dash of ‘politicking’?😊) around both our hospital, as well the Youth Justice Reform Committee which has led to many contacting my office. Clarification to both have been sent through to media, however in short, there has not been, or is, any concerns regarding the future of Noosa Hospital, only the slowness of the expansion of the emergency department. 𝐇𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 𝐒𝐓 𝐌𝐎𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐄 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐄 ‘𝐌𝐎𝐁𝐘’🏖🚙 Another great morning with businesses and locals, with ‘convos’ around the increase of dangerous electric bike and scooter 🚵‍♀️ riding, as well smoking and vape usage near shop entrances. We have since liaised with the Sunshine Coast Public Health Unit for the provision of ‘no smoking signs’ as well provided an additional avenue if the problem persists 👍. 👉For individuals or businesses who would like to order a ‘no smoking’ sign, please visit www.sandybolton.com/no-smoking-signs-april-2024👉On the reckless riding, as reported in the ‘Weekly Wrap’ 📲, new laws were passed in February including expanding the application of careless riding offences regardless of age at the discretion of police 👮‍♂️ and courts 👩‍⚖️. I asked a Question on Notice (QON) in last Parliament as to what further consideration is being given to a licensing scheme for operators and riders to improve safety. As relayed on this ‘Moby’, please everyone, if you see this dangerous behaviour, report it to Policelink to assist our officers in determining hotspots for targeted operations (www.police.qld.gov.au/policelink-reporting).
