Your Voice. Your Noosa.

As an Independent Member of the Queensland Parliament, I am honoured to represent the wonderful diversity that is Noosa, not a political party or personal ideology. This is liberating and empowering for the residents of our electorate and provides opportunity to create a future that you have envisioned. One that is bold in researching ideas and trialling new ways to address our challenges, through the development of partnerships and a focus on what unites. One that encourages open discussion and respectful debate which concentrates on common ground and what can be achieved. One that considers all viewpoints and perspectives, with objective research and a passion for people, that puts Noosa first.

I am your voice. It is your Noosa.

With lane fees being increased, we provided the Noosa Masters Swimming with a Helping Hand grant to continue this great swimming program for fitness, friendship and of course, their 12th championship 🩷🏆! Gratitude to all club members, as well the endurance team featuring Ian, Jo, Denise and Brian for their incredible win! 👏👏👏 And PS. It was lovely to showcase how bad I sing in the many ‘Happy Birthdays’! 🫣🤣 For more information on the Noosa Masters Swimming Club, and how to join a really cool crew, visit 👉https://noosamastersswimming.com.au/ ... 𝐏𝐎𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐀 𝐌𝐎𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐄 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐀𝐊𝐀 ‘𝐌𝐎𝐁𝐘’ 🚙 It is always a wonderful ‘roadie’ to our beautiful Noosa country villages, and our catch up with fab Pomona businesses and residents was awesome! 😍 The ‘sharing’ was two ways – from my end updates on the pedestrian crossing 🚸Northern Sunshine Coast Public Transport Strategy (now including our rails towns 🎉) and more, as well reminding to have their say on Small Business Commissioner’s red tape reduction survey ✂! And from their end? Some hot topics, including those new ‘adult time, adult crime’ laws, the difficulties being experienced due to the housing crisis, and new fees for those selling their homes which we are now investigating. Gratitude to all who took time to share their concerns, hugs and some commentary streetside on the federal election which we dare not share! 🫣😀🙏PS, Apologies to anyone we did not get to as you were either not yet open, or busy with customers, however hopefully you got my message/update sheet 🙌👉For our latest update on the pedestrian crossing, visit www.sandybolton.com/pomona-pedestrian-crossings-update-january-2025/ 👉For our latest progress regarding public transport in our hinterland, visit www.sandybolton.com/north-coast-rail-services-including-cooroy-gympie-north-update-april-2025/ 👉 We encourage all small businesses to have their say on reducing red tape in the QLD Small Business Commissioner’s survey qsbc.qld.gov.au/advocacy/red-tape-examples/ Noosa and District Landcare, Pomona & District Community House Inc, Hinterland Pool Services, Noosa Hinterland Real Estate, Pomona Bakery, Pomona's Little Pantry, Pomona Village Kitchen, Spilldebeans, Lifeline Shops Queensland, Mountain Stop Cafe, Trail 518, Ray White Pomona Hinterland, Raine & Horne Noosa Hinterland, Home Hardware, This Bird, Speaking Beauty, Rattle And Spur Hair Design ... 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐊 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐋 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐒 🦈Given the work within our community 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 for safe alternatives to shark nets, the government’s announcement to increase nets and drumlines, including for Peregian Beach, is deeply concerning. This contradicts recommendations 📑 from the just released independent review of the current program, which included to reduce environmental impacts and trial net removals during winter whale migration. Even though the plan commits to creating a new framework to trial and evaluate alternative technologies to reduce reliance on nets, questions understandably abound given the review was on existing trials. We are currently writing to the minister for both the rationale around the increase, and why Peregian was included and will update when a response is received. We ask everyone to share their views regarding the newly announced plans to the minister via primaryindustries@ministerial.qld.gov.au and CC our office via noosa@parliament.qld.gov.au.👉 To read the KPMG Shark Control Program Evaluation report, visit www.publications.qld.gov.au/dataset/queensland-shark-control-program/resource/8a8b28f0-a45a-4779-... 👉 To read the Queensland Shark Management Plan 2025-2029, visit www.publications.qld.gov.au/dataset/queensland-shark-control-program/resource/833f5143-055f-4fe2-... ... 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐘𝐍’𝐒 𝐇𝐔𝐓 𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐊𝐊𝐘 ♥ We were a week early to celebrate National Volunteers Week to get in as many hugs as possible before I head to Parliament! What can I say except ‘as I said’, we would never have what we have without our beautiful vollies 🥰 It was wonderful to hand out awards that included those who have dedicated 20 years of service, including Wendy, Gail, Sonya and Yolande 🥇All of these members, as well so many more, provide a hub for our residents, information for our guests and visitors, and importantly keep our heritage alive, ‘anchoring’ us newbies to our home 🙌 Gratitude to Gail and to the whole ‘Hut’ team who are one big family, to our hosts at the Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club, and to all who support their efforts!
