REAL TIME FLOODING ALERTS MARCH 2023

In response to our advocacy for real time flood data to be available to Queenslanders, the Minister for Transport & Main Roads (TMR) has advised that flood monitoring equipment has been installed in the Noosa Electorate at:

  • Boreen Point-Tewantin Road west of Kimbah Court
  • Boreen Road at Cooroora Creek
  • Boreen Road at Six Mile Creek
  • Cooroy Connection Road at Six Mile Creek
  • Kin Kin Road at Eualama Creek
  • Kin Kin Road at Kin Kin Creek
  • Kin Kin Road at Six Mile Creek
  • Kin Kin Road at Cooroora Creek
  • Kin Kin Road at Yellow Gully.

The Minister further explained that:

TMR, local governments and water authorities provide water level data in real time to the Bureau of Meteorology. The Bureau collates the data it receives from across Queensland and makes it available to the public using various technologies, including its public website. The public can access this information using their mobile phones. TMR provides information around flooding and road restrictions including flood camera images through to the public via the QLD Traffic website and app, the 13 19 40 state-wide road condition information service and is also shared with third party companies, such as Google for its use.

Scroll down to find ‘flood cameras’ and select which camera you wish to view in real time at https://qldtraffic.qld.gov.au/cameras.html  Please note, the TMR official road names are used, not the local names we all know. EG Boreen Road is Louis Bazzo Drive, Boreen – Tewantin Road is McKinnon Drive, and Kin Kin Road changes names in different locations, so please consider creek reference to help identify location.
