Our Voice

Having a local member aligned only to our local community and local issues, not a political party or ideology, is vital. Noosaโ€™s history contains many proud moments and people fighting to keep Noosa distinctly โ€˜Noosaโ€™ for the now, and the future.

We have achieved so much during my first 3 year term as your MP, ย includingย long standing localย issues listed below which had seen no progressย in 2 decadesย regardless of who held power in Government.

In addition to the work on behalf of our community, as the only Independent MP in Queensland, it has been an honour to represent a very diverse Crossbenchย inย the end of year Valedictory speeches. Other Parliamentary achievements include over 60 speeches, and taking forward the expectations of our community and at times all of Queensland with an unbiased voice. These have included the need for a more efficient and effective system within Government, highlighting failures within our current processes, and issues important to Queenslanders yet not brought forward for consideration and debate, such as Voluntary Assisted Dying.

We also celebrated a successful Private Memberโ€™s Motion to address an inequity in resourcing for crossbench members that was first highlighted 30 years ago but had never been addressed. This very โ€˜Noosaโ€™ way of creating the future sought, also resulted in Noosa having the only MP in Queensland who took the time to submit to the Inquiry into the Governmentโ€™s response to COVID-19 from both a health and an economic perspective. Considering the feedback from local residents, was not only appropriate, but extremely important.

Representing our community in Parliament is not just a job. It is a passion and a privilege.

All speeches can be viewed here.

Integrity, honesty, moral values and passion. Sandy has a quality that is not often found in politicians, or for that matter many people in public life. If we had more MPโ€™s in the world like Sandy, we would all be living in a much better place. And she gets things done!

Sandy Bolton MP understands what is relevant for our business, and has been at all times accessible, even late into the evening.ย  She is relentless when it comes to obtaining meetings with Ministers and advocating for the Noosa business community. I feel that it is her โ€˜Independenceโ€™ from party politics that has allowed her to truly represent Noosaโ€™s businesses objectively and effectively to the State Government.
