For over 25 years, Sandy has lived, worked and raised her three children in our community, residing in Kin Kin, Pomona and now Cooroibah with her partner, four times world lawn bowls champion, Ian ‘Shoey’ Schuback OAM.

In 2014, Sandy was the only female councillor elected to the then freshly de-amalgamated Noosa Council. In 2016, she narrowly missed becoming the Mayor.

Sandy’s diverse background covers 35 years in managerial and consultancy roles in the tourism, agriculture, sporting, community, training and social services sectors. She has formal qualifications (GC in Social Innovation) through CQ University.

Sandy has been engaged in a wide range of roles including an NDIS project manager for disability service provider Sunshine Butterflies, a founding member of Innovate Noosa, a Director of the four local Bendigo Community Banks and Community Advisory Council Member of the Sunshine Coast Primary Health Network.

A personal message from Sandy

As the only Independent Member of the Queensland Parliament, I believe that I hold a special position. And not for the reason that you may think.

Being answerable to the people of Noosa, and not a political party, is more than special. It is liberating and empowering for the people of our electorate.

Noosa has both the capacity and opportunity to create the future that it has always envisioned. One that is bold in researching ideas and trialling new ways in addressing our greatest concerns. We can share our journey with other Queensland communities as we join them in meeting the challenges that we face together.

As a Member of Parliament, I will use my position to negotiate partnerships and deepen our relationships to achieve long term solutions as opposed to short term fixes. I will discourage silos and work to bring everyone together in a united team effort to deliver good outcomes. I will speak independently, act boldly and always put Noosa first.
